Health and safety

The safety and wellbeing of staff and customers Is of prime importance to IL FORNAIO, our philosophy is to be proactive in the field of health and safety and act upon prevention not cure. All members of staff are trained on matters of health and safety as a part of their induction process and receive on going on the job training.
IL FORNAIO has also drawn up a comprehensive health and safety policy and system of risk assessments. Risk management groups meet quarterly and consist of senior executives from each division of the business. This provides a forum for reviewing levels of risk and the controls that are required to deal with them, food safety and environmental issues also play an integral part of these meetings.

Technical Manager

We are currently seeking a Technical Manager with extensive practical experience of BRC accreditation, HACCP implementation, facilitation of customer audits and quality system management. Technical Manager will be responsible for defining the Technical Strategy at the site and managing the technical team. Will ensure that relationships are developed with suppliers, retailers and internally, and will be integral in developing the Food Safety and Quality systems ensuring they are compliant with retailer codes of practice and relevant 3rd party standards.

The role of the Technical Manager will involve:

  • Working with all departments on product and process improvement
  • Managing specific process technology projects
  • Identifying opportunities
  • Solving day to day process problems and delivering solutions for continuous business improvement

Technical Manager Essential Knowledge / Skills:

  • Relevant Technical Management experience within the food industry
  • Extensive practical experience of BRC accreditation, HACCP implementation, facilitation of customer audits and quality system management
  • Degree qualification in food science or equivalent
  • Excellent people management & communication skills
  • A recognised Food hygiene qualification

Shifts: Monday-Friday. 08:00am-16:30 pm

Flexibility is required

Starting Salary £45K.

Sales Order Processor

Main responsibilities:

  • Matching, copying P/O’s and delivery notes.
  • Attending board line telephone calls, meeting and greeting visitors, handling intercom system, fulfilling all other ad hoc reception duties.
  • Responsible for purchase order process and updating of all new products.
  • Pro- Actively handing customer query calls, emails and faxes.
  • Liaising with customers for their orders and queries via emails and telephone.
  • Inputting customer orders in the system and handling delivery notes.
  • Responsible for daily invoicing, week start and statements for the month end.

Shifts: Monday-Friday (08:00-16:30)

Salary: £18K - £21K

QA Assistant

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure all CCP’s relating to the HACCP are maintained and monitored at all times.
  • Maintain QA database and filling system.
  • Monitoring and evaluating incoming raw materials, production and processing procedures.
  • Assist in performing inbound inspections of selected raw materials to assure specifications are achieved.
  • Internal audits: GMP, traceability, HACCP, paperwork, allergens, process, organic clean down, hand swabs.
  • Logs: product on hold, metal rejects, serious incident.
  • To help prepare for external audits.

Shifts available: 6 days a week- 1 day off

  • 07:00-15:30
  • 15:00-23:30
  • 23:00-07:30
